Situated in one of the most beautiful locations of the Balearic Isles, and only a half hour from Palma and the airport, Deià is a small municipality on the Northwest coast of Mallorca. A land of travelers, artists, painters and musicians, Deià is known for combining traditional life with modern luxury. This reputation has made this small village of less than a thousand inhabitants a favourite amongst visitors.
Traditionally dedicated to agriculture and fishing, Deià has become a tourist enclave synonymous with quality and exclusivity. Because of its tranquility and the extraordinary beauty of its landscape, many artists, musicians, and writers have called Deià their home since the late 19th Century. They include English writer Robert Graves (1895-1985) and American painter and archaeologist William Waldren (1924-2003), who also founded the Deià Museum of Archaeology.
A stroll through Deià allows one to become a part of a dreamlike landscape filled with blue seas, a turquoise cove, the green forests of the Serra de Tramuntana, a small mount crowned by a stone church, and intimate, surprising streets. Every corner in Deià is a pleasure.
